Some even experience it while using virtual reality (VR) headsets or playing certain video games. Although it can make even a short journey miserable, motion sickness is not a disease. Instead, it is a fascinating example of how our brain interprets information from different parts of the body.

Your Brain Is Constantly Trying to Understand Movement

Every second of the day, your brain is asking a simple question:

"Am I moving?"

To answer this, it relies on three different sources of information. Your eyes tell the brain what they can see. Your inner ears, specifically the vestibular system, detect changes in movement, acceleration, and balance.
